Selecting the right books to study.

Does selecting the right books make a difference? There are different syllabuses? Is CGP relevant? these are questions parents commonly ask. Our belief is that whilst a good reading list of books helps that is not the crucial determining factor. Most examiners these days are desperately looking ways of ensuring that students who lack the core fundamentals but only practice common questions are not selected. It is the understanding of the subject that is more important.

The Book List

At our Study centres we teach the basics effectively in addition to providing a list of books to buy and work with. Sometimes the choice of a certain grammar school can alter the books we prescribe. This will be discussed in person when you come to drop your children at the class. Some schools have a written essay as well. This is popular in some schools in Kent and schools like St.Olaves. We will thefore advise you on the books you should be reading at home as that is one of the most effective way to prepare for writing a general essay. We will also give you plenty of practice with essay writing at our classes.

  • Value your time – prepare for the exam at least a year in advance.
  • Spend quality time regularly – Last minute intesive coaching will not help. Set aside time everyday
  • Never stop learning – Keep your mind open to ask for the meaning of new words you hear around you.
  • Age is overvalued – some parents worry that their child’s age is a detrimental factor. This does not apply to all cases.
  • Be courageous – Get over the fear of exams by taking our tests every day.

Always set aside time everyday. It is never too late to start preparing for your grammar school exam. Preparation and mock tests are key. Use the links below to apply for classes today.

“Practice makes perfect.”

Practice as many sample questions as you can. We will provide you with a small test in every class. This will help students get over their fear of exams. Eventually with enough practice the final day will not prove very stressfull.
